ISTIC Forum on Maintenance of Infrastructure, Kuala Lumpur

On the occasion of ISTIC 4th Biennial Conference on Women in Science and Technology, a Forum on Maintenance of Infrastructure was held on 22 July 2019 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Forum was jointly organized by the International Science Technology and Innovation Center (ISTIC) and the Institute of Engineers Malaysia Training Centre (IEMTC) with the support of Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT).

The objective of this Forum was to impress upon the global development community with the urgent need to devote resources for maintenance of infrastructure and related human resource and institutional capacity building in the southern countries.

President ECOSF, Prof. Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro participated as one of the panelists in the closing panel. Prof. Soomro emphasized over adequate training programs for the local labor force to ensure the sustainability of mega infrastructure projects under the One Belt and One Road (OBOR) of China.  He further called for transfer of necessary 21st Century technical skills to local human resource so that they become proficient to maintain these large scale projects. The panel discussion was moderated by Academician Dato’ Ir. (Dr.) Lee Yee Cheong Honorary Chairman ISTIC and Founder President of AETDEW.
