ECOSF Participates in 10th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop in Nanning

The Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECOSF) participated in the 10th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop, held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, from 18–23 September 2026 under the theme “AI Education for a Better Future.” The event brought together more than 200 participants from 24 countries and autonomous regions for youth science education, hands-on learning, teacher exchange, technological exposure and cultural interaction.
As a supporting organization, ECOSF facilitated the participation of 48 students and teachers from seven ECO Member States—Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Türkiye. The ECO contingent comprised 46 participants, while the ECOSF delegation included Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President ECOSF, and Mr. Ghulam Abbas Rahar, Manager (Administration), ECOSF.

The programme featured a diverse range of science, technology and cultural activities. ECOSF delegates and ECO participants visited the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo, the Guangxi Subtropical Botanical Garden, Guangxi Science and Technology Museum, Anthropology Museum of Guangxi, China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Collaborative Innovation Center and China-ASEAN Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center. These visits provided participants with practical exposure to artificial intelligence, robotics, satellite remote sensing, natural sciences, environmental knowledge and cultural heritage.
During the programme, an official meeting was also held with Mr. Feng Shenhong, Vice-President of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). Discussions highlighted opportunities for international cooperation, including young scientist exchanges, talent and youth capacity building, engineering experience-sharing, and the promotion of science, technology and innovation.

A notable highlight was the interview of ECOSF President Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi by CCTV during the visit to the Guangxi Science and Technology Museum. Prof. Tayebi highlighted the Maker Camp as an important platform for science, technology and innovation and people-to-people exchange, providing young people with opportunities for hands-on scientific activities, cultural exchange and international networking.
The participation of ECOSF and seven ECO Member States strengthened the visibility of the ECO region within the Belt and Road science-education exchange and reinforced ECOSF’s role as a platform for regional cooperation in science, technology and innovation education. The programme also provided opportunities to explore future collaboration with CAST, CYSC, BRISEC and other international science-education partners, particularly in AI literacy, maker education, STEM and teacher capacity building.
