Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology, H. E. Dr. Hossein Simaee-Sarraf called on the Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, H. E. Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja

Islamabad, July 21, 2026 – The Iranian Delegation headed by H. E. Prof. Hossein Simaee-Sarraf, the Minister of Science, Research and Technology, visited the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, and met with H. E. Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Pakistan’s Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication in Islamabad. Prof. Mehdi Abtahi, Iran Deputy Minister for Research and Prof. Ehsan Ghaboul, Iran Vice Minister of International Scientific Affairs also attended.
In this meeting, Prof. Simaee-Sarraf highlighted Iran’s scientific achievements despite sanctions, saying the country has attained a prominent position in artificial intelligence research. He also introduced the capabilities of Iran’s 60 science and technology parks and proposed expanding cooperation in AI, cybersecurity, knowledge exchange and technology transfer. The Iranian minister invited his Pakistani counterpart to visit Tehran to tour Iranian universities, research centers and the country’s innovation ecosystem. The two sides agreed to strengthen scientific and technological collaboration, with their deputies tasked with developing implementation mechanisms and following up on the agreed initiatives.
