Islamabad, July 24, 2026 – A high-level delegation from Iran, including Prof Mehdi Abtahi, Deputy Minister for Research (MSRT), Prof Ahmad Reza Roshan, Advisor to the Minister and Mr. Mahmoud Hojjati, ECO Coordinator at Iran’s MOFA, accompanied by President ECOSF Prof. Seyed Komail Taybei, visited PAS and met with Prof. Aslam Beig, Secretary-General, Pakistan Academy of Sciences, and Dr. Riffat Mahmood Qureshi, Director Administration, Pakistan Academy of Sciences.

Both sides discussed close collaboration in STI and strengthening collaboration among ECO Academies of Sciences, and particularly to support the establishing ECO Council of Academies of Sciences (ECAS). Both sides discussed that ECAS could enhance scientific linkages among ECO countries and to promote joint research projects and conferences addressing shared regional challenges
