The ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) participated in the Quarterly Exchange Activity of the Belt and Road International Science Education Consortium (BRISEC) on July 15, 2026. The online exchange brought together BRISEC members to share experiences, initiatives and good practices in science education and regional cooperation.

The meeting was moderated by Prof. Manzoor Hussain Soomro, Advisor ECOSF and Vice President of BRISEC. Presentations were delivered by ECOSF, the Jamili Science and Technology Foundation of Iran, and the National Science Museum of Thailand, followed by an interactive discussion and exchange session.

On behalf of ECOSF, Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President ECOSF, delivered a presentation highlighting the Foundation’s major initiatives in STEM and science education, regional capacity building, and science and technology cooperation. He underscored ECOSF’s role in strengthening human resource capacity, scientific collaboration, and science education across the ECO region.

Prof. Tayebi particularly highlighted ECOSF’s longstanding engagement with BRISEC and its efforts to mobilize participation from ECO Member Countries in the Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camps and Teacher Workshops. Since the launch of these activities, ECOSF has facilitated the participation of 1,382 students and teachers from the ECO region, including participants from Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan.

The presentation also showcased ECOSF’s broader portfolio, including the promotion of Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE), summer science camps, climate change education for teachers, the Science Chronicles webinar series, regional STI conferences, and capacity-building programmes developed with partner institutions.
