Islamabad, August 07, 2026. The President of the Economic Cooperation Organization Science Foundation (ECOSF), Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi, met with the Federal Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), Pakistan, Mr. Shahid Iqbal Baloch, on 7 August 2026 at the Ministry of Science and Technology, Islamabad.

During the meeting, the President ECOSF expressed his appreciation to MoST for its hospitality, support, and cooperation in hosting the 6th Meeting of the ECOSF Board of Trustees (BoT). He added, under the leadership of the MoST, the meeting accomplished fruitful and normative outcomes. He also discussed opportunities to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran (MSRT) and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Pakistan, particularly in the areas of student and professor exchange programmes, as well as other mutually beneficial initiative.

The President ECOSF further requested the support and assistance of the Ministry in engaging with non-ratifying countries, particularly Türkiye, with a view to promoting greater participation and cooperation within the ECO framework.

The Federal Secretary, Mr. Shahid Iqbal Baloch, extended his gratitude to Prof. Tayebi and his team for their extensive preparations they made before and during the 6th ECOSF BOT meeting. He added his ministry will continue its support of ECOSF’s goals in promoting STI in the region as well as follow up on the matter of ratification of non-ratifying members.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing their commitment to strengthening scientific and technological cooperation and exploring opportunities for joint initiatives in the fields of science, technology, education, and research.
