9th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop held in Chengdu ECOSF’s Teams also participated
9th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp & Teacher Workshop was held from 10-15 June 2025 in Chengdu city of China. The Camp was held by Children and Youth Science Center (CYSC) of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and Chengdu Associaiton for Science and Technology (local host). The Camp was supported by ECOSF, the Inter Academy Partnership Science Education Program, Network of African Science Academies, and Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization.
The Camp was formally opened in a beautiful ceremony. The ceremony was held at Sichuan Hall AB, Tianfu International Convention Center, Chengdu. Prof. Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress made the opening speech, whereas, H.E. Ding Xuexiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China delivered keynote speech. H.E. Hossein Afshin, Vice President for Science and Technology of Iran and H.E. Ramatov Achilbay, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and made speeches.

President ECOSF Prof. Tayebi also made a speech during the ceremony. He thanked the Chinese organizers and the host to organize such a wonderful event in Chengdu city. He further spoke that the events like the Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop serve as critical platforms and inspire and empower the next generation of thinkers, inventors, problem-solvers, and leaders by engaging them early in hands-on scientific exploration, interdisciplinary learning, and intercultural dialogue.
President ECOSF also said that the partnership between the ECO Science Foundation and the Children and Youth Science Center (CYSC) of the China Association for Science and Technology has grown stronger with each passing year, and it continues to open exciting new avenues in youth engagement, science education, and innovation.
As for the participation, over 188 participants comprising of high officials, teachers and students from 27 countries and regions along the belt and road gathered to promote the exchange of science, technology and culture, mutual learning and sharing. Totally, 53 participants (teachers, students and officials) from 7 ECO Member Countries were invited and facilitated by ECOSF

The main objective of the Camp was to provide a platform to the participating teams to strengthen cross-cultural exchange, promote international understanding and inspire innovation in young generation, as well also serve scientists and science teachers by fulfilling their responsibilities in science education career. Every year, the event attracts participants from different countries and regions worldwide.
The camp also provided students with opportunities to cooperate with the best of their age at international level, to share ideas and study cutting-edge knowledge in science labs of top institutes in China through hands-on experience and teamwork under guidance of experienced teachers. Science education seminars and teacher workshops are held for teachers to share educational practice of different countries and learn skills of STEM education. It also includes diversified cultural and scientific programs including various visits.
All attendees of the Camp had access to front-edge science equipment to experience advanced technology; visited various natural or cultural spots with Chinese features; and made friends with peers from different nations. In addition, the Camp also encouraged students to showcase their cultures and communicate with their peers.
