ECOSF attended the International Training Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction and Green Development for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor

President ECOSF, accompanied by Mr. Khalil Raza, ECOSF Program Manager, attended the Inaugural Ceremony of the International Training Workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction and Green Development for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, at COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), on Thursday June 18, 2026.
At the opening session, welcome and opening Remarks were delivered by the Rector, CUI Islamabad, the Executive Director, CPJRC, and the Executive Director, COMSATS. The keynote address is also delivered by the Chief Guest, Mr. Fuad Pashayev, Representative of UNESCO in Pakistan. The inaugural session emphasized the importance of universities, science-based policymaking, international cooperation and South-South collaboration in addressing climate-induced hazards, particularly in ecologically fragile and disaster-prone regions along CPEC.
The five-day workshop, scheduled from 18 to 22 June 2026, was endorsed as an official activity of the United Nations International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD 2024-2033). It brought national and international participants to exchange knowledge and strengthen capacity in disaster risk reduction, climate resilience and green development.
