ECOSF Delegation Meets Leadership of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan
Tashkent, 18 December 2025 — ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) delegation held a high-level meeting with the leadership of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan to explore avenues for strengthening scientific and research cooperation.
The ECOSF delegation met with Academician Shavkat A. Ayupov, President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, and Prof. Sagdullayev Shamansur Shakhsaidovich, First Vice-President and Chief Scientific Secretary of the Academy.

Mr. Ayupov briefed the ECOSF delegation on the mandate, structure, and historical background of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, highlighting its role as the country’s leading institution for fundamental and applied research.
During the meeting, discussions focused on strengthening regional scientific cooperation, promoting joint research initiatives, and enhancing the participation of Uzbek research institutions and scholars in regional and international scientific programmes under the ECO framework.
Prof. Dr. Seyed Komail Tayebi introduced the mission, mandate, and regional role of ECOSF in promoting collaboration in science, technology, and innovation among ECO Member States, highlighting opportunities for joint scientific programmes and institutional partnerships. Prof. Tayebi added the collaboration between ECOSF and Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan aims to strengthen the regional Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) ecosystem by deepening Uzbekistan’s participation in ECOSF programs.

Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Memon emphasized the importance of regional scientific networks in unlocking the full potential of the ECO region and reiterated that deeper institutional cooperation would be further strengthened through the ratification of the ECOSF Charter and its Additional Protocol.
Mr. Khalil Raza briefed the Academy’s leadership on ECOSF’s ongoing and planned scientific initiatives, including capacity-building programmes, research collaboration platforms, and opportunities for enhanced engagement of Uzbek scholars in ECOSF-led activities.
