admin_bilal2026-08-03T07:14:31+00:00

Islamabad, July 02, 2026: Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President of the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF), accompanied by Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Memon, Executive Director and Mr. Ghulam Abbas Rahar, Manager (Administration), ECOSF, held a meeting with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Atadjan Moulamov, to discuss enhanced cooperation and Turkmenistan’s engagement in key ECOSF initiatives.

During the meeting, the participants discussed Turkmenistan’s nomination and participation in the 6th Meeting of the ECOSF Board of Trustees (BoT), scheduled to be held in Islamabad on July 22, 2026. President ECOSF emphasized the importance of the active participation of all ECO Member States in the Foundation’s governance and decision-making processes and requested the Embassy’s support in facilitating the nomination of Turkmenistan’s representative.

The meeting also discussed the nomination of a national team from Turkmenistan for participation in the 10th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop, scheduled to be held in China in September 2026. The programme provides an important platform for young students and teachers to enhance their creativity, innovation, scientific knowledge, and technological skills while engaging with participants from different countries.

Another key agenda item was the proposed hosting of ECONEX in Turkmenistan, in line with the commitment made by Turkmenistan during the relevant meeting of the ECO Council of Ministers (ECO COM) and ECOSF President’s visit to Turkmenistan. The participants discussed the importance of initiating consultations with the relevant national authorities to explore possible arrangements for organizing the event.

The following follow-up actions were identified:

  1. The Embassy of Turkmenistan would coordinate with the relevant authorities for the nomination of an appropriate representative to participate in the 6th Meeting of the ECOSF Board of Trustees (BoT).
  2. The Embassy would facilitate communication with the concerned authorities and educational institutions  to nominate a Turkmenistan team for the 10th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop to be held in China in September 2026.
  3. Further consultations would be undertaken with the relevant authorities in Turkmenistan regarding the hosting of ECONEX, including the proposed timeframe, host institution, and organizational arrangements.

The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation between ECOSF and Turkmenistan and enhancing Turkmenistan’s participation in ECOSF’s governance meetings, scientific and educational programmes, and regional initiatives.

ECOSF will continue close coordination with the Embassy of Turkmenistan and the relevant national authorities to facilitate follow-up on the matters discussed during the meeting.
