Islamabad, July 24, 2026 – H.E. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, along with senior officials, received a high-level delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran led by Prof. Mehdi Abtahi, Deputy Minister for Research, Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT). The delegation included Prof. Ahmad Reza Roshan, Advisor to the Minister, Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President of the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) and Mr. Mahmoud Hojjati, ECO Coordinator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.

During the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities to strengthen scientific cooperation, research collaboration, higher education, capacity building, and innovation among OIC Member States. Prof. Abtahi explained the strategic plans of MSRT in fostering scientific collaborations in the OIC and ECO regions. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary briefed the delegation on COMSTECH’s flagship programmes, including scholarships, fellowships, research grants, scientific mobility, and the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence. The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of OIC-COMSTECH and the Islamic Republic of Iran to promoting science, technology, innovation, and regional cooperation for sustainable development across the Muslim world.
