Tehran, August 31, 2026 – Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President ECOSF met with H.E. Prof. Hossein Simaee Sarraf, Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Tehran. Prof. Mehdi Abtahi, Deputy Minister for Research, Prof. Ehsan Ghaboul, Head of the International Scientific Cooperation Center, MSRT, and Prof. Mohammad Roshan, Chief Advisor to the minister also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Prof. Tayebi presented a report on the 6^th ECOSF Board of Trustees (BoT) Meeting held in Islamabad in July 2026 and appreciated support of the Iranian delegates during the BoT and requested the Minister to follow up on the Board’s decision regarding Iran’s annual mandatory contribution and arrears to ECOSF. H.E. Prof. Simaee Sarraf reaffirmed his full support for Iran’s financial commitment to the Foundation and asked ECOSF to help strengthen the bilateral relationship between ECOSF and MSRT, deepen ECOSF’s ties with other international organizations, promote exchange programmes between MSRT and Pakistan’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), and share information through both sides’ websites and media channels.

Building on this support, Prof. Abtahi proposed implementing a practical and sustained cooperation programme between ECOSF and MSRT, while Prof. Ghaboul announced the potential award of 100 scholarships and fellowships for Pakistani professors and scholars.
