Tehran, June 1, 2026 – H.E. Prof. Hossein Simaee Sarraf, Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, received Prof. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF), at the Ministry in Tehran. Prof. Ehsan Ghaboul, Head of the International Scientific Cooperation Center, MSRT, accompanied Prof. Tayebi. The President ECOSF expressed appreciation to the Minister and the Government of Iran for their continued cooperation and support for ECOSF’s efforts to promote Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) across the ECO region. He also briefed the Minister on ECOSF’s programmes and collaborations with Iranian institutions since the inception of the Foundation.

The meeting discussed enhanced support for ECOSF, including Iran’s mandatory budget contribution for and outstanding arrears, expanding cooperation plans between MSRT and ECOSF, and closer engagement with Iranian universities and national and regional technology institutions. Prof. Tayebi also invited MSRT to participate in the 6^th ECOSF Board of Trustees Meeting in Pakistan in July 2026. The Minister appreciated ECOSF’s activities, underlined the Foundation’s potential to contribute to STI advancement in Iran and the ECO region, reaffirmed the support of MSRT and the Iranian Government, and approved participation in the forthcoming Board of Trustees Meeting.
