ECOSF Delegation paid an offical visit to the National University of Uzbekistan to Strengthen Academic and Scientific Cooperation
Tashkent, 17 December 2025 — The ECOSF delegation led by Prof. Dr. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President of ECOSF, and included Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Memon, Executive Director ECOSF, and Mr. Khalil Raza, Programme Manager – Energy & Climate, ECOSF. paid an official visit to the National University of Uzbekistan. The ECOSF delegation was warmly received by Professor Inom Madjidov, Rector of the University. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring promising programmes and initiatives in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Seyed Komail Tayebi provided an overview of the mandate, organizational structure, and strategic role of ECOSF. He highlighted ECOSF’s mission to promote regional collaboration in science, technology, and innovation, and emphasized the importance of partnerships with leading academic institutions in advancing research excellence and human capital development across the ECO region.
Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Memon, Executive Director ECOSF, underlined the strategic importance of Uzbekistan as a key member of the ECO region. He noted that Uzbekistan’s growing emphasis on higher education, research, and innovation positions it as an important contributor to regional scientific cooperation.
Mr. Khalil Raza, Programme Manager, ECOSF, briefed the University leadership on ongoing cooperation initiatives with Uzbekistan, including regional programmes in science education, innovation, climate action, and emerging technologies.

Professor Inom Madjidov welcomed the ECOSF delegation and expressed appreciation for the Foundation’s engagement with academic institutions in Uzbekistan. He reaffirmed the National University of Uzbekistan’s interest in expanding cooperation with ECOSF, particularly in joint research, innovation-driven programmes, and international academic collaboration.

The meeting concluded with a shared understanding on the importance of closer cooperation between ECOSF and the National University of Uzbekistan to promote scientific excellence, innovation and regional integration.
The National University of Uzbekistan (NUUz), named after Mirzo Ulugbek, is the oldest and leading higher education institution in Central Asia. The university, which was established in 1918, comprises 15 faculties and 74 departments, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, History, and Foreign Philology. The university cooperates with over 100 institutions worldwide.
