ECOSF & UISMS Webinar Explores the Road “From Quantum Principles to Reliable Quantum Computation”

admin_bilal2026-03-11T08:46:37+00:00

On 27 November 2025, ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF), in collaboration with Union of Iranian Societies of Mathematical Sciences (UISMS), hosted a compelling webinar titled “The Pathway from Quantum Principles to Reliable Quantum Computation.” The event was led by Dr. Laleh Memarzadeh (Department of Physics, Sharif University of Technology, Iran), with moderation by Prof. Vahid Karimpour from the same institution, and attracted researchers, students, faculty, and anyone interested in quantum mechanics, quantum information science, and future‑oriented computation.

Dr. Memarzadeh guided participants through a succinct journey of quantum theory — explaining how foundational quantum‑mechanical concepts evolved over the past century to give rise to quantum information science and computing. She discussed the core differences between classical and quantum information processing: unlike classical bits, quantum bits (“qubits”) exploit superposition and entanglement to encode information in ways classical systems cannot.  She also addressed major challenges standing between theory and practical quantum computing — particularly the fragility of quantum states due to quantum noise and decoherence — and reviewed leading strategies being developed worldwide to mitigate them and move toward reliable quantum computation.

The webinar also emphasized how quantum information science is inherently interdisciplinary, intersecting physics, mathematics, computer science and engineering — offering powerful new tools for computing, encryption, sensing, and beyond.  At the end, Dr. Memarzadeh encouraged young scientists, especially from developing countries, to engage proactively in building quantum‑ready infrastructure and curricula and to help develop their countries as contributors to the global quantum revolution.
