On 3 July 2026, Prof. Dr. Aslam Baig, Secretary General of PAS, and Dr. Riffat Mahmood Qureshi, Director Administration, held a productive meeting with Prof. Dr. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President of the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF), to discuss strengthening scientific collaboration among the Academies of Sciences of Pakistan, Iran, Türkiye, and other academies in the region. During the meeting, both sides finalized the concept note of collaboration to establish the ECO Council of Academies of Sciences, an initiative proposed by the Academy of Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Council aims to enhance scientific cooperation among ECO member countries by promoting joint research projects, conferences, scientific networking, and capacity building. ECOSF will play a key role in coordinating activities across the region. The initiative is expected to strengthen regional scientific partnerships, encourage innovation, and contribute to the long-term scientific and technological development of the ECO region.
