ECOSF Delegation Engages with Tashkent State Technical University (TSAU) to Advance Regional Academic Collaboration
Tashkent, 17 December 2025 — A delegation of the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) visited Tashkent State Technical University to explore opportunities for strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.

The meeting was held with Mr. Shavkat Azimov, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Transformation of the University. Discussions focused on advancing academic and scientific collaboration among universities across the ECO region.
The ECOSF delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Seyed Komail Tayebi, President of ECOSF, and included Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Memon, Executive Director ECOSF, and Mr. Khalil Raza, Programme Manager – Energy & Climate, ECOSF.

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Seyed Komail Tayebi introduced the mission, key programmes, and regional role of ECOSF, highlighting the Foundation’s mandate in promoting regional cooperation in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) among ECO Member Countries. He emphasized ECOSF’s efforts to connect academic institutions, strengthen research collaboration and build innovation ecosystems across the region.
Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Memon expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to meet with the University leadership and highlighted the importance of institutional partnerships in advancing regional scientific cooperation.
The discussions further addressed issues related to connecting universities across the ECO region and strengthening academic networks. In particular, views were exchanged on the prospects of organizing joint international conferences involving universities from Türkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and other Central Asian countries, exploring avenues for scientific research projects and establishing faculty exchange programmes.
Dr. Toshov Javoxir, Head of Knowledge Transfer and Industry Collaboration at Tashkent State Technical University, also contributed to the meeting and presented the University’s Center of Excellence on Energy, outlining its research focus and opportunities for collaboration with ECOSF and partner institutions.
Tashkent State Technical University was established in 1918/1920 as a faculty of Turkestan State University, then renamed in 2017 to honor Islam Karimov, the first President of Uzbekistan and a graduate of the university. The university iincludes Thermal Power Engineering, Electronics and Automation, Energy, Geology and Mining, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics, Oil and Gas, and Engineering Technology. The campus features 13 dormitories and specialized research centers like the calligraphy laboratory. The university maintains agreements with over 175 global institutions across 15 countries, including Germany, Japan, and the USA.
