President ECOSF meets the President of Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (CASTED) of MoST P.R. China

President ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) Prof. Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro along with Chairman of Inter Academy Partnership-Science Education Programme (IAP-SEP)/President of Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW) Dato. Lee Yee Cheong met the President of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Technology for Development (CASTED) of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) of China Dr. HU Zhijian at the Academy on 19 December 2017.

Prof. HU enthusiastically welcomed the visitors and briefed them about the activities and programmes of CASTED which are focused on applied research and innovation. He mentioned that the famous Fujian innovation forum was initiated and launched by CASTED. In addition, CASTED has also developed Belt & Road Science & Technology Vision and Action Plan for its implementation in the Silk Route countries; however, he said that the Action Plan needs to be reviewed and updated.

Dato Lee Yee Cheong greatly appreciated the opportunity to meet the President HU and introduced Prof. Soomro and the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) to him, mainly because the two have similar domains and goals. Dr. Soomro elaborated the objectives and functions of the Foundation in more detail and offered to work together with CASTED under Belt & Road Science & Technology Development action plan, particularly in the ECO member states, which are all part of ancient silk route.

President Soomro requested for the copy of Belt & Road Science & Technology Development Action Plan and invited Dr. HU to visit ECOSF in Islamabad for detailed discussion; to this he readily agreed. Prof. Soomro also invited his to make a presentation on the Action Plan in the forthcoming ECOSF Board of Trustees Meeting to highlight the importance of the matter. The Foundation will send a formal invitation to Prof. Hu in due course of time.
