Senior Officials Meetings (Preceding the 20th Council of Ministers' Meeting)

The Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) preceding the 20th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held on 13-14 October 2012 at Baku, hosted by the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Preparatory/Review meetings were held on the sidelines for the finalization of important documents.

The Meeting was attended by delegations from Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The representatives of the ECO Specialized Agencies and Regional Institutions participated at the Meeting. The SOM Meeting was chaired by the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Mr. Mahmud Mammad -Guliyev.

The Report of the Secretary General was approved unanimously which contained activities of the ECO since the 11th Summit of the Organization in the Republic of the Turkey. Among other important documents that were approved for submitting to the Council of Ministers Meeting (COM) and Summit is the Baku Declaration, 2012 containing the salient points of cooperation among the members of ECO as a regional organization in charge of important regional projects including trade, transport, energy, agriculture, human resources, fight against narcotics and organized crimes areas and guidelines.
