President ECOSF delivered presentation at TED-TALKS 5 at ICERS Conference

On April 20, 2024, as part of the ICERS conference organized by Sharif University of Technology, TED talks were delivered by experts, including scientific paper presentations in oral and poster formats, as well as technical exhibitions. Prof. Tayebi presented on the importance of international organizations, particularly focusing on the role of ECOSF in TED-TALK 5 during the ICERS Conference.

Prof. Tayebi first explained that an international organization is an entity with international/regional memberships, scope, benefits, limitations, and diverse functions. Additionally, international organizations facilitate technical cooperation through supervisory methods and technical assistance. He emphasized that among all activities of international organizations, negotiating and setting up multilateral agreements are the most important. Minimizing transaction costs can strengthen cooperation between different countries.

In the second part of his talk, Prof. Tayebi introduced ECOSF in terms of its objectives, programs, and activities. He described ECOSF as an intergovernmental organization and a specialized agency of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), headquartered in Islamabad, Pakistan. ECOSF is mandated to promote scientific and technological research with the goal of enhancing the socio-economic status of its 10 Member Countries: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

Prof. Tayebi highlighted that ECOSF serves as a catalyst for science and technology for sustainable development in the ECO Region. The organization pursues this goal by promoting research and technological development for sustainable development and economic growth in the ECO Region through key areas such as developing human resource capacity for science, technology, and innovation; strengthening institutional capacity in scientific research and technological development; facilitating collaboration in scientific and technological research among Member States; and exchanging information on S&T Research and Development through workshops, conferences, and meetings.

At the end of the TED Talk, the audience participated in a Q&A session related to ECOSF.
