President ECOSF joined as a Panelist
A Social Sciences Forum entitled, "The Great Steppe- A Forum of Human Sciences" was organized by The World Educational and Scientific Cooperation Organization (TWESCO), better known as "International Turkic Academy" in collaboration with various organizations of Turkic world, at the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, Astana, Kazakhstan on 23-24 May 2016. Main motive of the forum was to bring together renowned scholars of Turkic history and culture, prominent statesmen, ambassadors and diplomats, as well as the Executives of International organizations active in the region, to discuss the significance of cultural values of Eurasian and Turkic nations in the development of human civilization, as well as to find answers to pressing issues of the contemporary world. The goals of the forum were to, accentuate the growing significance of the Turkic world in international arena; to scrutinize the historical origins and continuity of statehood traditions in entire Eurasia; to provide a discussion platform for communication and dialogue between renowned scholars who conduct systematic research on various aspects of ancient and contemporary Turkic world and to give new momentum for further development of Altaic and Turkic studies.
The opening ceremony of the forum was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of independence of Turkic-speaking countries from the Soviet Union and the day was attended by the Secretary of State of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ms. Gulshara Abdykalykova, General Director of the Research Centre for History, Art and Culture of Islam at the OIC (IRCICA) Mr. Halit Eren, Chairman of the UNESCO Turkish National Commission M. Ocal Oguz, the Head of Ataturk High Council of Culture, Language and History Mr. Derya Ors and by the Presidents of; National Academies of Sciences of brotherly countries and Rectors of High Educational Centers, and ECO Science Foundation. Forum was opened by the Secretary of State Ms. Gulshara Abdykalykova, who read Congratulatory Letter of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. H.E. Nur Sultan Nazerbayev.
More than 200 scientists and researchers from Turkic-speaking countries, the United States, Germany, Japan, China, South Korea, Russia, the United Kingdom and other countries of the world joined the forum and shared their views on 4 panel sessions of the forum.
President ECO Science Foundation Prof. Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro was among the panelist of 1st panel discussion on “Scientific Cooperation and Integration in the Eurasian Space: Search for Modern Approaches”, moderated by Mr. Omer Kocaman, the Deputy General Secretary of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States. Dr. Soomro firstly gave a brief introduction of ECO Science Foundation and its aims and objectives. While stressing upon the importance of scientific cooperation, he shared the International linkages of ECOSF and its programs & activities with emphasis on research and scientific & technological innovation.
Dr. Soomro in his talk put great emphasis on implementation of inquiry based science education (IBSE). He further added that IBSE is the key modern approach to attain scientific motives leading to strong national base for any nation.
After the four panel discussions, ceremony for signing of MoUs by TWESCO with four organizations including ECOSF was held for cooperation in the field of education and scientific research as well as joint publications.
