Climate Change Education Programme

ECOSF has placed Climate Change as one of its priority areas. Through our initiatives, we aim to foster climate literacy, empower teachers, and contribute to building a more sustainable future.

In collaboration with InterAcademy Partnership on Science Education Program (IAP SEP), ECO Science Foundation is developing a Training Module for Capacity Development of Science Teachers. This module focuses on Climate Change Education and equips teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively educate students about climate change.

Building on this success, ECOSF is actively working towards integrating the Climate Change Education module into the national science curriculum of Pakistan. By gaining recognition and endorsement at the national level, we ensure that the module reaches a wider audience of students, fostering climate literacy from an early stage and enabling a generation that is well-prepared to tackle climate change challenges.

Our initiatives have already achieved significant impact in climate change education in the ECO region. Through intensive training workshops, we have successfully trained over 30 Master Trainers who are now equipped to deliver effective training programs on climate change education using the Inquiry-Based Science Education (IBSE) pedagogy. These trainers, in turn, can train their peers, expanding the reach and impact of our project.

In addition to our Climate Change Education programmes, ECOSF has also provided technical assistance to the Government of Pakistan on sustainable and clean transportation. Through partnerships with organizations such as the UNDP and National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (NEECA), we have offered critical insights into the future of mobility and global trends in the electric mobility space. By supporting the development of the local eMobility market, we aim to promote sustainable transportation solutions.

In addition to our Climate Change Education initiatives, the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) plays a vital role in various important platforms and committees related to biodiversity and ecosystem services.ECOSF proudly serves as an Observer of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES). This role allows us to contribute to the global dialogue and exchange knowledge on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem services. As an Observer, we actively engage in discussions, provide valuable insights, and support the mission of IPBES to bridge the gap between science and policy.

Furthermore, ECOSF plays a significant role as a member of the Steering Committee of the Man and Biosphere Reserve (MAB) under the Ministry of Climate Change, Government of Pakistan. This committee oversees the conservation and sustainable development of biosphere reserves in Pakistan. By actively participating in the committee’s activities, ECOSF contributes to the effective management of these reserves, promoting biodiversity conservation, and fostering sustainable livelihoods.

These engagements highlight ECOSF’s commitment to environmental stewardship, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. By being part of these influential platforms and committees, we actively contribute to shaping policies, sharing expertise, and driving positive change in the fields of biodiversity, ecosystem services, and sustainable development.
